Tools
One of the main goal of the ASTRO project is the development of "real" software prototypes that can be suitable for the development of industrial software for the management of Distributed Business Processes.
The first prototypes delivered by the project is WS-GEN, a tool supporting the automated composition of web services developed within the project.
The problem of the composition of web services is addressed upon propose low level process modelling and execution languages, like BPEL4WS. These languages allow programmers to implement complex web services as distributed processes and to compose them in a general way.
However, the definition of new processes that interact with existing ones must be done manually, and this is a hard, time consuming, and error prone task.
The tool is distributed under an LGPL 2.1 license (see www.gnu.org), and is available for download.
